Wok Cooking with Vegetables

If you've recently purchased a wok, you may be looking for ideas for healthy wok cooking recipes. Fortunately, it's easy to cook delicious vegetable recipes in your new wok. The following are simple traditional or electric wok recipes you can use either as main dishes or as side dishes.



Easy Vegetable Wok Recipe
Ingredients You Will Need:
2 cups prepared hot rice
3 tablespoons peanut oil
3 tablespoons scallions
1 tablespoon minced garlic
1 tablespoon minced ginger root
1 cup julienned carrot strips
1 cup broccoli florets
1 cup sliced yellow onions
½ cup sliced red bell pepper
¼ cup soy sauce
2 tablespoons fish sauce
1 tablespoon sugar
¼ cup water
½ teaspoon red pepper flakes

In a small dish, combine soy sauce, fish sauce, water and red pepper flakes.
Heat your wok to high. Add oil, scallions, garlic and ginger root. Reduce heat to medium high. Stir-fry for one minute, releasing flavors from the seasonings. Add the carrot strips and stir-fry for one minute. Add the broccoli and stir-fry for one minute more. Then add the onions and red bell pepper strips and stir-fry for an additional minute. Add sauce from small dish, toss thoroughly, reduce heat to medium low and cover for an additional two to three minutes. Mix once more and serve immediately over hot rice.
Simple Teriyaki Vegetable Wok Recipe
Ingredients You Will Need:
1 tablespoon peanut oil
1 tablespoon minced ginger root
1 cup pea pods
1 cup sliced summer squash
½ cup water chestnuts
2 tablespoons teriyaki sauce
1 tablespoon water

Heat wok to high heat. Add peanut oil and ginger root and stir-fry for one minute. Reduce heat to medium high. Add pea pods and summer squash. Toss well and stir-fry for two minutes. Add water chestnuts and stir-fry for one minute. Mix teriyaki sauce and water in a small dish, then add to wok, tossing thoroughly. Cover, reduce heat to medium low and finish stir-frying for two more minutes. Serve as side dish.
